Nigerian media mogul and ADC Chieftain, Chief Dele Momodu, has strongly defended members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition figures amid growing criticism that many of them are merely “aggrieved politicians.”
In a candid interview shared via his official Instagram page on Sunday, August 3, 2025, Momodu responded to claims that those supporting the ADC only voice complaints when out of power and remain silent while in government. The interviewer had asked: “Talking about the ADC and Co, how would you respond to this general belief, you know, that most of the people who are supporting or who are rooting for ADC are aggrieved politicians? The politicians, they only complain when they are out of power. When they are in there, they don’t complain.”
The interviewer further added: “How would you respond to that? The same people who are complaining if they get there—because no government has been able to exceed or surpass what they met on ground—they just come and they think instead of moving from bad to good, we would rather move from bad to worse. They are all the same. How would you respond to that, sir?”
In response, Momodu stated: “It’s not a crime to be aggrieved. There is a Yoruba saying that you cannot beat a child and expect the child not to cry. It’s normal. Is there any politician who is totally happy in this world? Are people not attacking Donald Trump in America? People must be aggrieved.”
He went further, citing the example of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai: “Somebody worked for you, almost killing himself, sleepless nights, traveling up and down, risking his life, in Nasir El-Rufai, and then when it came to clearing it just for ordinary Minister in a country where the legislation understands everything that the president brought, suddenly they said they had a security report. What kind of security report? Of course, somebody was suddenly afraid of his rights and they knocked him out. So, and you expect him not to be aggrieved. And then people say it as if only the coalition people are aggrieved.”
Momodu also took a jab at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the party of harboring more discontented individuals than any coalition: “There are more aggrieved people in APC than in the coalition. There are people who have been waiting to be commissioners, to be, you know, ministers, to be ambassadors. In over two years, Tinubu has not appointed any ambassador. Tell me, why won’t people be aggrieved? People who worked for him.
