Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has responded to comments by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, rejecting any political comparisons and asserting his own strength in Rivers State politics.

In a video statement posted on TVC TV from 30:52, Wike addressed El-Rufai’s suggestion that people should “ask Jonathan,” apparently referring to former President Goodluck Jonathan’s political experience.

“He (El-Rufai) said they should go and ask Jonathan. No two persons are the same. The mere fact you were able to survive that, succeed in that does not mean you can do that,” Wike stated, emphasizing the uniqueness of individual political circumstances.

The FCT Minister made it clear that he considers himself a formidable political force, particularly in his home state of Rivers. “We are also here too. So as I’m sitting down here, do I look like somebody that you can come and win in Rivers State?” Wike asked rhetorically.

Wike then turned his attention to recent electoral outcomes, dismissing opposition complaints about by-elections results. “Let me tell you, what you have is complain. They just did by-elections. What happened? Complaining, we are used to complaining,” he said.

The minister’s comments suggest confidence in his political position while dismissing what he characterizes as ineffective opposition tactics focused on complaints rather than substantive political action.
