Lauretta Onochie, a prominent member of former president Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet and one of the strong voices within the ADC coalition recently reacted after the Idoma Traditional Council withdrew the Chieftaincy title previously bestowed on president Tinubu. According to the statements which were shared on her official X handle, she pointed out that former Kaduna state governor, Nasiru El-Rufai was an Okwado Odenigbo.

The withdrawal of the Chieftaincy title previously bestowed on President Tinubu and several others by the Idoma Traditional Council generated mixed reactions from different quarters after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.

The president, alongside few others were generously honoured during a courtesy visit to the state. However, in the aftermath of the event, the titles were withdrawn as the traditional council held that those who conferred the title were illegitimate.

Reacting, Lauretta Onochie, one of the strong voices within the ADC coalition and prominent member of former president Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet in the recent statements which were shared on her official X handle, pointed out that El-Rufai was a Chieftaincy title holder in Igboland.

Sharing the letter of the recognition on her X handle, the former presidential aide pointed out that at the time the title conferred on the president and few others were withdrawn, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai was recognized as ‘Okwado Odenigbo 2025’.

“Mallam El-Rufai is an Okwado Odenigbo 2025 at the time the Idoma Traditional Council withdrew the traditional title previously given to BAT. And at the time they failed woefully at their feeble attempt to induct Mallam as one of them…..” He wrote.
