Hon. Adamu Ahmed Dattijo, a senior figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State, has voiced concerns about former governor Nasir El-Rufai’s political direction. While El-Rufai has not officially declared his intention to run for office under the ADC, Dattijo believes his recent actions raise questions about his true motives.
In an interview with The Sun on Thursday September 11 20205, Dattijo emphasized that El-Rufai, like any citizen, has the right to contest elections. However, he stressed that the political environment must remain fair and inclusive. He warned against any moves that could disrupt the party’s unity or undermine democratic principles.
The ADC leader also highlighted the importance of allowing voters to choose their leaders freely, without undue influence or pressure. He called for leadership based on trust and public support, not manipulation.
His words,
“El-Rufai has the right to contest, no doubt about that, even though he has not come out clearly on that. But if you truly want to contest, you must first create an environment that is comfortable and fair for everybody. You don’t impose yourself on people. Let the people freely say, “Yes, you are the better choice, come in and take the position.”
