According to a report by PM News on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Dr. Illyasu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s claim that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will place third in the 2027 presidential election, describing him as “a blatant liar and frustrated politician.”
Illyasu Musa Kwankwaso, a two-time Commissioner of Rural and Community Development in Kano under the administrations of former governors Ibrahim Shekarau and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, issued the statement on Monday in Kano.
He argued that President Tinubu’s performance so far demonstrates that he is on course for a landslide victory in 2027, insisting that El-Rufai’s comments amount to political blackmail.
Illyasu Musa Kwankwaso, who currently serves as Executive Director (Finance) at Hadejia Jama’are, accused the former governor of attempting to use falsehoods to remain politically relevant.
He said, “El-Rufai cannot disparage or edge out President Tinubu from the 2027 race the way he tried with former President Jonathan in 2015, using insecurity, poverty, and economic challenges as tools.”
