A human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, in a tweet on his X handle on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the recent insecurity in the country, questioning the competence of the administration often touted for its “master strategist” leadership.
The lawyer’s central argument was that any reputed strategic brilliance seems exclusively focused on issues of corruption, nepotism, and self-serving political advancement, while utterly failing to formulate an effective response to the escalating insecurity that jeopardizes the lives and properties of Nigerians.
Effiong wrote, “The self-acclaimed master strategist has no strategy to end the killings in Nigeria. When it comes to corruption, nepotism and politics of self-aggrandizement, his strategies are ‘effective’. But not in securing the lives and properties of Nigerians.”
The pointed condemnation of the Tinubu presidency follows a period of devastating security failures that have severely shaken public confidence across the nation.
In the Northeast, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) recently claimed responsibility for the killing of a Nigerian Army Brigadier General, Musa Uba following an ambush near Wajirko in Borno State.
This casualty marked one of the highest-ranking military losses in recent years.
The violence extends beyond the Northeast. In the Northwest, armed assailants, locally referred to as bandits, stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State.
They executed the school’s vice principal before abducting 25 female students.
Also, a terror attack was recorded in the North Central region, where a place of worship, the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in a Kwara State community, was targeted.
Effiong’s critique suggests that the consistent failure of the Tinubu administration to address these critical and fatal security lapses invalidates any claims of strategic, good governance. View, More,
