Former Labour Party, LP, member, Doyin Okupe has taken to his official X account on Tuesday to react after Aliko Dangote told the federal government to completely remove fuel subsidy.

According to THE CABLE, Dangote said petrol is being sold at higher price in SaudI Arabia. He said it doesn’t make sense that it is being subsidized here in Nigeria.

According to Dangote;

“For example, Saudis, the citizens believe that oil is our God given gift and should not charge us for it. Government was selling it at a very low price. But today, as we speak, gasoline is about 40 percent cheaper in Nigeria than in Saudi Arabia, which I think does not make sense”.

Reacting, Doyin Okupe disagreed with the statement that was made by Aliko Dangote that government should completely end fuel subsidy. He said in Nigeria, petrol is the economic oxygen of both the rich and the poor.

According to Doyin Okupe on his page;

“With utmost respect, I disagree with Aliko Dangote on his suggestion that the government should completely end subsidy now. Petrol is the economic oxygen of Nigerians, wether rich or poor. This is not the situation in other countries of the world”….Sêe _ Morê
