Musa Saidu, the Chairman of the Arewa Community in Southern Nigeria, has publicly urged former Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai to face the ongoing investigation by the Kaduna State House of Assembly, as reported by DAILY POST.
In a recent interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, Saidu emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in governance, asserting that El-Rufai should cooperate fully with the investigative process.
Saidu’s call comes in the wake of allegations against El-Rufai’s administration, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) involved in the investigation. He commended the Kaduna State House of Assembly for their efforts, describing their actions as exemplary and necessary for the flourishing of democracy. According to Saidu, the investigation is a crucial step in ensuring that public officials uphold the principles of integrity and accountability.
He reminded El-Rufai of his advocacy for transparency during his tenure and suggested that this was an opportunity for him to demonstrate his commitment to those principles. Saidu’s advised El-Rufai not to go to court but to appear before the investigation committee and defend himself. By following this approach, El-Rufai could either prove his innocence or address any concerns about his administration’s conduct.
In his words: “El-Rufai is an advocate of transparency in governance, today is his turn to prove his innocence or otherwise. Don’t go to court, go and appear before the investigation committee and defend yourself.”….Seë_Morë
