One of the chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and former Kogi lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye has reacted to the judgement of the court stating that Umar Damagun remains the PDP National Chairman.
According to Channels TV, Justice Peter Lifu ordered that only Umar Damagun should be recognized as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, until the next convention in December 2025.
According to Channels TV;
“Justice Peter Lifu ordered that no person other than Damagun should be recognized as PDP national chairman until the party’s national convention scheduled for December 2025. Justice Lifu issued the restraining order against PDP NEC, BoT, and others while delivering judgment in a suit instituted against them by Senator Umar El-Gash Maina”.
However, Dino Melaye has now reacted to the report. In a statement that he shared on his official page on Saturday, he said Umar Damagun has been suspended and not sacked.
The statement reads;
“In compliance with the court order not to sack Damagun, he has been suspended and not sacked. We have obeyed the court order because PDP is a law abiding party. The suspension will aide the resolution of the crisis in our party”.
