The Interim National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has faulted Datti Baba-Ahmed’s criticism of the ADC coalition, describing his action during the unveiling meeting as improper.
Reacting in an interview with News Central TV, Abdullahi said those who make public comments must be accountable for their statements. He questioned why Baba-Ahmed, who is not a member of the coalition, would call it deceptive.
Abdullahi recounted that during the unveiling of the ADC-led coalition, Baba-Ahmed arrived and took a seat at the high table without being invited, which left many members embarrassed.
He explained that members of the coalition avoided confrontation at the time but noted that Baba-Ahmed never attended subsequent meetings, raising concerns about his credibility to speak on coalition matters.
In his words, “I mean, you can’t just go on national TV and say things like that so carelessly and without being questioned what exactly you meant.”
“There must be information that he has that made him to come to that kind of conclusion because to the best of my knowledge, Baba-Ahmed is not a member of the coalition.”
“I saw him on the day of the unveiling. He came and took his seat for himself on the high table without anybody inviting him. I’ve never seen him in any of the coalition meetings.”
“I don’t know why he was there and everybody was embarrassed. The people were careful. They didn’t want to embarrass anybody. After that, he never showed up. So how come he’s suddenly in a position to comment about the coalition?
