Umar Bulama, an indigene of Borno State has stated that he survived a brutal Boko Haram attack on Darul Jamal community in Borno State by pretending to be dead.
According to a report by Punch on September 19, 2025, Bulama said Boko Haram members attacked his community and killed many people on September 5, 2025. He said during the attack, he lay flat among the corpses of some people who were killed by Boko Haram. He said he pressed his face “into the blood-soaked sand”, hoping the terrorists would not notice he was alive.
Bulama said he was fortunate that Boko Haram terrorists did not detect him. He said after they left, he managed to get up and began walking for hours until he finally reached a military checkpoint near the town of Banki, close to the border with Cameroon. He said, “I escaped… but I left my neighbours behind forever.” See, More, Here>>>>
