The PDP Former National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan has accused the PDP acting Chairman, Umar Damagum of undermining the governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara by recognizing the Congress conducted by the FCT Minister in Rivers State. He stated that it is an aberration if the governor elected on the PDP platform is not recognized as the leader of the party in the state. He pointed out that those who belong to the Fubara camp were denied forms to contest positions in their party. He said in an interview with Arise TV from 6:48, ”Damagum is undermining the governor of Rivers state by recognizing Wike’s Congress. The situation of Rivers State is very disturbing in the Peoples Democratic party and you have to put the blame at the door step of the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum. They know what they should have done to bring peace and tranquility to that state.

In line with the convention of a party, the governor elected on the platform of the PDP had always been the leader of the party in the state. What has happened in Rivers State is an aberration. Because of the division in the party and in the state, those who belong to the Fubara camp paid for forms to contest positions in their party but they were not issues forms. And the matter went to Court and the Court decided that they should hold down the Congress but the Wike’s camp went on with the Congress. The challenges in the PDP are too huge and it borders on the compromises with the Leadership of the party.”
