Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights lawyer and former chairman of the national human rights commission recently reacted after the Senate served a letter of no resumption to Kogi Central senatorial district lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that they were afraid of one woman.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central senatorial district has once again, come under the spotlight after her audacious move to resume duties at the Senate was stalled.
The astute lawmaker, suspended for six months was due to resume on the 4th of September, 2025 however, according to a letter served by the clerk to the national assembly, he resumption was placed on hold.
Reacting, Chidi Odinkalu, a well respected human rights lawyer and former chairman of the national human rights commission made the disclosure, and also shared the letter of no resumption served to the embattled senator.
From The letter which Chidi Odinkalu shared, the senator was informed to await the final resolution of the petitions against her before fully resuming her duties in the Senate. This, infuriated Chidi Odinkalu who believed the recent move was politically motivated.
According to his statements which had garnered widespread attention from different quarters, he pointed out that all the men in the national assembly were afraid of a single woman named Natasha.
These were the words of Chidi Odinkalu which he shared on his official X handle,
“All these corpulent men in national assembly are truly and collectively petrified of one woman, Natasha Akpoti..” he wrote.
