Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Prof Chidi Odinkalu has taken to his official X account to react after the Obidient Movement called for electoral reforms ahead of the general elections in 2027.
According to the National Coordinator of the Obidients Movement, Yunusa Tanko, the call was necessary to save democracy in Nigeria.
However, Chidi Odinkalu has now reacted after an X user asked him to join those calling for electoral reforms.
According to the X user;
“How I wish Prof Chidi Odinkalu and Barrister Dele Farotimi will be invited”.
Reacting, Chidi Odinkalu distanced himself from the people calling for electoral reforms. He said he won’t join in any discussion of electoral reform in Nigeria under the current conditions.
According to Chidi Odinkalu on his official X account;
“What exactly is wrong with Electoral Act 2023? The judges gutted it. They will do the same to the next. What you need to reform is not elections; it’s judges and SANs”.
