Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and lawyer recently reacted after the former governor of Rivers State and FCT minister Nyesom Wike made it known that he wanted the outright removal of governor Siminalayi Fubara but the president saved him. According to his statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that Nyesom Wike was seeking his own destruction.
Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State and current FCT minister caused a stir after he made it known that his intention was to oversee the outright removal of governor Siminalayi Fubara from office, but the president saved him.
His statements which were made during a media chat on Friday stirred massive reactions from different quarters, as many were left in disbelief at his audacity.
Reacting, Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and lawyer in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, mocked the former governor for his uncensored comments.
According to Chidi Odinkalu, those whom the gods wanted to destroy, they first made drunk. This, he was referring to Nyesom Wike, a man he had been at loggerheads with.
The proverb which was targeted at the former Rivers State governor was a slight deviation from the popular African proverb, ‘he whom the gods wants to destroy, they first make mad’.
These were the words of Chidi Odinkalu which he wrote on his official X handle,
“Those whom the gods want to destroy, they first made drunk.” Chidi Odinkalu wrote.
