According to a report by Vanguard on Saturday, April 4, 2026, Dorathy Adams, a resident of Anguwan Rukuba community in Jos, stated that she narrowly escaped being killed during the recent attack on the community.
Dorathy said she tried to escape when gunmen invaded Anguwan Rukuba and began shooting people indiscriminately. She said while she was running, a bullet passed very close to her neck, causing her to fall to the ground. She said in that moment, she made a quick decision to remain still. She stated that she lay on the ground without moving, and the attackers assumed she was already dead.
Dorathy said some victims were shot multiple times during the attack. She added that it was only after the gunmen left and people began searching for survivors that she gathered the courage to stand up and run back home.
