According to the report from the Daily Post, the Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido criticized former President Buhari’s lack of trust in his own Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, and his preference for former Senate President Ahmed Lawan as his successor.
Lamido argued that Buhari’s calculations were absurd, considering he had already served eight years as a Northerner, and desiring another Northerner for another eight-year term did not align with Nigeria’s current political dynamics.
Lamido expressed his surprise at Buhari’s inability to secure the emergence of his preferred candidate during the party’s convention.
Despite this, Bola Tinubu, whom Lamido claimed was never favored by Buhari, emerged victorious.
Lamido concluded that Tinubu’s victory did not stem from Buhari’s support, meaning Tinubu owes Buhari nothing in return.
According to Sule Lamido, “He (Buhari) didn’t even trust his own vice president, Professor (Yemi) Osinbajo; he wanted Ahmed Lawan, but his calculation was absurd. You have done eight years for the North and you wanted another Northerner for another eight years?! No. Maybe later but there are some dynamics which you can’t alter, not in Nigeria of today.
The president of Nigeria, after being in office for eight years, lacked the courage to push through his anointed choice. He (Buhari) was there at the convention and Tinubu that he never liked, he never believed in emerged. Tinubu knows that his victory wasn’t from Buhari, therefore, he owes him nothing.”….Vïêw–Môrê
