In a recent video discussion on News Central TV from 5:49, Dele Farotimi candidly addressed Nigeria’s political landscape in a conversation with host Kayode Akintemi.
Farotimi’s comments shed light on the shortcomings of past leadership, particularly that of former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.
When prompted about his views on Buhari’s return to power, Farotimi remarked, “If Jonathan had been an effective president we wouldn’t have been in a situation where a man (Muhammadu Buhari) who left office as president and came back after 30 years without even having the capacity to get a school certificate.”
His critique extended to Buhari’s agricultural policies, stating that despite receiving substantial subsidies, Buhari had not expanded his farming endeavors, emphasizing a lack of innovation and leadership.
Farotimi’s frustration was palpable as he referred to Buhari’s emergence as a “messiah,” criticizing the perception that surrounded the former president.
He continued, “Even his daily farm with all the subsidy he enjoyed, he never expanded beyond, he didn’t write a single book, then that one become the one package as messiah for everybody to buy into that illusion, I didn’t buy into that illusion.”
This statement reflects a growing sentiment among some Nigerians who feel disillusioned by the political narratives promoted by leaders and the media.
As Nigeria navigates its complex political terrain, Farotimi’s insights resonate with citizens questioning the effectiveness of their leaders.
His remarks highlight the need for a more accountable and visionary leadership that can truly address the challenges facing the nation. The conversation underscores a critical examination of past governance as the country prepares for its future….S££ _ MOR£
