Taofiq Raimi, a seasoned development expert, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his firm stance on the importance of tax reform in Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television from 4:25, Raimi clarified misconceptions surrounding Tinubu’s tone and intent.

“When Mr. President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during the presidential media chat said the tax reform bill has to stay, he wasn’t proud like many people had thought.

He was simply saying the obvious,” Raimi explained.

He emphasized that the president’s remarks reflect a deep understanding of Nigeria’s economic realities and the need for sustainable revenue generation.

According to Raimi, tax reform is not just a policy but a necessity for driving development, reducing dependency on oil revenue, and fostering economic stability.

Raimi further highlighted that effective tax systems are crucial for funding infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

He urged Nigerians to view tax compliance as a collective responsibility rather than a burden, noting that a reformed tax system could unlock the nation’s full economic potential.
