According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Sunday, March 29, 2026, a Twenty-six-year-old Gbolahan Olaniyi has recounted his ordeal after spending 42 days in captivity following his abduction from a farm in Ekiti State.
He described how the incident occurred while he was carrying out his routine activities before being seized and taken away by armed men.
The experience, which lasted several weeks, unfolded deep within isolated areas far from public access, where movement was controlled and escape appeared difficult.
Olaniyi explained that immediately after the abduction, he and others who were taken were forced to move quickly away from the farm.
The kidnappers led them through a concealed route behind the farmland, ensuring that they remained out of sight.
The journey began under tense conditions, with the victims compelled to follow instructions without resistance as they were moved deeper into unfamiliar terrain.
As the movement continued, the group passed through thick forest areas that made navigation challenging.
The environment was described as dense and quiet, with limited visibility and no clear paths.
According to his account, the abductors appeared familiar with the terrain and moved with confidence, guiding their captives through narrow routes that reduced the chances of being traced.
During the journey, they encountered a river which they had to cross before continuing further.
The crossing added to the difficulty of the movement, as the victims had to navigate the water under supervision.
After passing this point, the group continued their movement until they arrived at a location that appeared elevated compared to the surrounding land.
The area where they eventually stopped was described as a high hill. At this point, the abductors halted the movement and instructed everyone to remain there.
The pause marked a temporary break after the long trek through the forest and across the river.
The victims were made to stay in place while the kidnappers attended to their own activities.
While at the location, the abductors prepared food using items they had taken from nearby farms.
The setting reflected a routine that suggested they were accustomed to operating in such environments, relying on available resources to sustain themselves during their operations, the victims remained under watch throughout this period.
He said, “They took us through the forest at the back of our farm, and we crossed the river. We then got to a high hill, where they asked us to hold on. They said we should rest for a while; they roasted the maize that they had earlier stolen from people’s farms.” Read_More…
