A Former Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government, Samuel Nwanosike has alleged that a large number of delegates of over 3,000 voted in the PDP Congress held in Rivers State yesterday. He emphasized that their voices cannot be ignored in favor of the governor’s personal interests.

He also noted that the governor of Rivers State has already decided to leave the political party and he’s being persuaded to stay. He conceded to the minister of FCT’s statement regarding the political party’s structure and leadership in the state. He highlighted that individuals regardless of their political position cannot unilaterally take control of a political party’s structure. He identified the democratic process within political parties, where individuals must obtain forms and participate in elections to become party executives at various levels.

He said in an interview with TVC From 3:13, ”The statement made by the minister of FCT is on point, you cannot just sit down and say you want to hand over a structure of a political party to an individual. Whether he is a governor or whether he is a Senator, there is a process in political activities. People need to obtain forms for election if they want to become a party excos at the ward level.

If you want to be excos at the LG level you need to obtain form as well. And what the FCT Minister has come to tell us us clear that the governor cannot sit down in the states and control the party as he likes. The delegates that voted today are over 3,000, can we ignore them because of a governor? This is a governor? This is a governor that we know has made up his mind to go to another political party and we are only appealing with him not to go.”….VïêwMôrê
