The political atmosphere in Nigeria has been clouded with uncertainty following widespread speculation regarding President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated cabinet reshuffle. Despite persistent rumors that the president would dissolve his cabinet yesterday, the reshuffle has yet to take place, leaving many political analysts and citizens perplexed.
In a recent interview with Channels Television from 1:34, political and policy analyst Kolawole Johnson expressed surprise that President Tinubu had not yet taken decisive action. “I was shocked that the President didn’t dissolve his cabinet, especially when we heard leave what Bayo Onanuga is saying, rumors from internal sources was that the President was going to do it yesterday,” Johnson remarked.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, previously hinted that a cabinet reshuffle was imminent. However, conflicting information from sources close to the presidency has kept the public on edge, fueling speculation that the reshuffle could happen at any moment.
Johnson continued, “Even today, we learnt that he [the President] has submitted it and that he left the country. But that again, he’s not consistent. He’s not a coward. We knew he likes taking responsibility for his actions. So that again, we’ll be doubting, will it be done in his absence? But that’s very likely.”
