According to the report from the Sun, a Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Rufai Hanga pointed out the internal divisions within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), noting that these conflicts have led to its decline in states like Kano and throughout the Northwest region.

He advised President Tinubu to reconsider certain policies, particularly fuel subsidy and naira floatation, to regain public support.

Hanga expressed optimism about Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 elections, citing his positive policies and suggesting that addressing the unpopular ones could help secure his position.

According to Rufai Hanga, “There is no cohesion among them. For instance, the PDP has three irreconcilable factions. Even in my state (Kano), PDP is almost dead. In the last presidential election, they got only 15,000 votes. It has been routed out in Kano and most of the states in the Northwest. The only solution is for Asiwaju to retrace his steps on some of the policies, it is sure that he will come back in 2027. He has good policies; the only unpopular policy is this fuel subsidy and the naira floatation.”
