According to the report from the Daily Post, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Katchi Ononuju opined that Atiku Abubakar’s miscalculations had diminished his chances of ruling Nigeria.

He cited Atiku’s role in removing former President Goodluck Jonathan from power, suggesting that if Atiku had been more patient, he might have eventually become president himself.

Ononuju argued that Atiku’s decision to form the New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) and the subsequent downfall of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have ultimately backfired on him, resulting in his current political situation.

Through this statement, Ononuju sought to highlight the long-term consequences of political decisions and the potential risks associated with undermining alliances and party structures for personal political ambitions.

According to Katchi Ononuju, “I don’t see him (Atiku) ruling Nigeria because all he has done is miscalculate, and that’s why things are the way they are for him. This miscalculation is the reason he did not allow Goodluck to win; he removed Goodluck Jonathan. If he hadn’t done that, who knows, maybe Atiku could have become president again. He formed the alliance that removed Goodluck, the PDP lost power, and Atiku lost his balance. So, if he had been patient with Goodluck Jonathan, who knows if he could have been president. But no, he wouldn’t allow Goodluck, and he brought the PDP down with the formation of the nPDP. This is why he lost it.”
