Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has made a revelation, stating that he has been personally funding his office for the past 19 months without financial support from the state government.

The claims were shared in a video clip published by Channels Television on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle from 00:31, where Shaibu expressed frustration with the lack of financial support from Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration.

In his statement, Shaibu disclosed that Governor Obaseki has not released any funds for the deputy governor’s office for more than a year and a half. “I have been funding the office of the deputy governor by myself for the past 19 months,” he remarked.

The deputy governor highlighted the difficulties of operating under these constraints and pointed out the financial strain it placed on him personally. “But to the glory of God, I am not owing any staff, even the security, but the government is owing me,” he explained.
