In a recent interview from 19:01 shared by Arise News, All Progressives Congress (APC) member, Taofiq Raimi, raised concerns over the rising insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, particularly as the country gradually approaches another election cycle.
Speaking during the discussion, Raimi linked the pattern of violence in the region to political seasons, suggesting that such periods often witness a surge in attacks and instability. According to him, the trend is not new and has been observed repeatedly over the years.
He stated, “I agree with Shehu Sani; he said that in the northern part, as the election year approaches, there will be an increase in killings.” Raimi explained that this development raises serious questions about the underlying causes of insecurity and whether political interests may be indirectly fueling unrest.
The APC member emphasized the need for proactive measures by security agencies to prevent further escalation. He called for improved intelligence gathering, stronger collaboration among security institutions, and timely intervention in vulnerable communities.
Raimi also urged political leaders and stakeholders to prioritize national stability over personal or party interests. He noted that recurring violence not only threatens lives but also undermines public confidence in governance and the electoral process.
He concluded by stressing that addressing insecurity must remain a top priority, especially as the nation prepares for future elections, adding that sustained peace is essential for credible democratic development in Nigeria. Read_More…
