Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has addressed the ongoing tensions within his family, sharing insights on how he has handled disagreements with patience and restraint. In an exclusive interview on AF24 News Stories from 4:23, he emphasized that family conflicts, while deeply personal, should be managed without creating unnecessary public spectacle.
Fayose recounted that “Dino Melaye called me and said, ‘This is what my brother did,’ and I replied, ‘Please, don’t be angry,’” highlighting his approach to defusing conflicts calmly rather than letting anger guide his actions. He explained that even when disputes escalate publicly, he prefers silence and understanding, noting that such restraint protects both his family and his own peace of mind.
The former governor also addressed the criticisms and misunderstandings surrounding his extended family, making a clear distinction between his nuclear family—his wife and children—and his siblings. He stressed that despite disagreements, he continues to love his siblings and honor his 86-year-old mother, accompanying her on medical visits abroad to ensure her wellbeing. Fayose explained that publicizing internal family matters creates unnecessary controversy and leaves lasting digital footprints for future generations.
He further reflected on past conflicts, acknowledging that insults and attacks over the past year have been directed at him and those associated with him, yet he refuses to respond with retaliation. Instead, he emphasizes leadership, patience, and the importance of managing emotions responsibly.
Fayose concluded by reiterating that discretion is often the best approach when handling family matters, particularly for public figures. He expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support during his recent birthday celebrations and urged understanding of the private challenges even prominent individuals face. He affirmed that he will continue to care for his family and honor his mother while maintaining peace and dignity in all his interactions. View, More,
