Governor Sim Fubara has stated that there is a Supreme Court ruling that prevents courts from stopping elections. He said this while reacting to the Federal High Court judgment in Abuja against the conduct of the Local Government Area (LGA) elections in Rivers State.

In a video recently shared by Channels TV from 5:36, Fubara emphasized that the Supreme Court ruled that courts should not stop elections from taking place after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. He stated that individuals who are dissatisfied with an election should challenge the results in court after the process, rather than attempting to halt the election beforehand.

In Fubara’s words: “After the incident that happened in Nigeria on June 12, 1993 Supreme Court ruled that when it comes to issue of election no court should stop the process of election. If you feel aggrieved or you don’t want to participate in the election you go to court. Why do you want to stop the process of election? To create problem and anarchy in the state?”
