According to a report by Daily Trust on Sunday, November 23, 2025, troops of the North East Joint Task Force under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully repelled Boko Haram terrorists who launched an overnight attack on a community in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
The incident occurred late Saturday when the insurgents infiltrated the area and began destroying properties.
Residents reported that the attackers set houses and vehicles on fire, including one belonging to members of the Civilian Joint Task Force deployed in the community.
Local authorities confirmed that the swift response of OPHK troops prevented the situation from escalating further.
According to the Executive Chairman of Magumeri, Abubakar Abdulkadir Yaro, the terrorists sneaked into the community under the cover of darkness.
Their intention was to wreak havoc and possibly target security formations, but they were met with strong resistance from the military personnel stationed in the area.
Yaro explained that the troops engaged the attackers immediately, forcing them to retreat after realizing they had been overwhelmed.
The confrontation lasted several hours before the terrorists eventually withdrew from the community around 3 a.m. on Sunday.
Despite the destruction of residential buildings and other valuable property, local authorities confirmed that no lives were lost during the attack.
He said, “The terrorists fled out of the town at about 3:am on Sunday after they were overwhelmed. Unfortunately, they set ablaze residential houses and other property. But no life was lost.”
Security personnel continued patrols around the community on Sunday to prevent a possible regrouping or return of the assailants.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.
The recent attack adds to the series of security challenges affecting the region, but the prompt response from OPHK troops reinforced confidence among residents that security forces remain committed to safeguarding vulnerable communities. View, More,
