The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has fired back at comments made by Bode George, a senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). George had said that the PDP was responsible for making Wike popular nationwide. But Wike disagrees.
In a video that was shared by Channels Television, speaking during a media chat, Wike said, “I read what he said. If an old man has no job, sit down in your house and read your newspaper.” He admitted that PDP played a role in his political journey but insisted that individuals are the ones who make political parties strong—not the other way around.
Wike challenged Bode George’s claim, asking, “Who has PDP made in Lagos?” He pointed out that since 1999, the PDP has never won a major election in Lagos State—not even a seat in the House of Assembly or Senate.
In contrast, Wike highlighted his achievements in Rivers State, where he worked hard to make the PDP a major political force. “I campaigned, I laboured, I made the party strong in my state,” he said.
He made it clear that politicians should be judged by their results, not just their years in the party. Wike’s strong response shows he is not happy being discredited by party leaders who, according to him, have not delivered for their own states.
