One of the chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Segun Showunmi has stated that one needs to know why the former governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is not the Minister of Power.

This statement was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Tuesday.

His statement is coming after the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN said power outage in the North will persist.

According to DAILY TRUST, TCN said the blackout affecting parts of Northern Nigeria will persist due to security challenges hindering repairs on critical transmission lines. The report further stated that the ongoing blackout, which has lasted over four days, initially stemmed from vandalism of the Shiroro-Mando transmission line, which provided bulk electricity to the northern states.

Reacting to the report, Dr. Segun Showunmi stated that Nasir El-Rufai should have been appointed as Minister of Power given the level of background work that is involved in the ministry.

Here is what he wrote on his page;

“We are our problem in this country and at the heart of our challenges is a combination of senseless politics and a lack of patriotism.

“One needs to know why Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is not the Minister of Power given the serious level of background work. I know for a fact he had done it before. Our brand of myopic politics would not clear him but in their wisdom clears jokers and confirmed average Joes”.
