In a video shared on Facebook from 11:58, Asari Dokubo, a prominent chieftain of the Kalabari people, reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent declaration of intent to intervene in Nigeria over the alleged killings of Christians. Dokubo criticized Trump’s remarks, saying that Nigerians should not have to walk under the feet of the U.S. president because of President Bola Tinubu. He cautioned Trump against dragging the Nigerian people into any personal or political disagreements he may have with Tinubu.
Speaking further, Dokubo acknowledged Tinubu’s imperfections but insisted that he remains Nigeria’s duly elected leader and deserves respect from the international community. He emphasized that no foreign leader has the right to speak condescendingly about Nigeria’s president, urging citizens to defend their sovereignty and reject any external interference in the nation’s internal affairs.
According to him, “So, because of Tinubu, all Nigerians should walk under the feet of Donald Trump? We should walk under the clay feet of Trump and find ourselves in dishonorable graves because of Tinubu. Whatever Tinubu has with Donald Trump should be between Tinubu and Trump, not Nigerians; he should be talking to Tinubu. But let him not come out in public and talk about Tinubu, because whether we like it or not we can quarrel with Tinubu at home, but once somebody from outside comes to talk about Tinubu, he is our president, don’t think he is no longer our president.” View, More,
