Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has responded to resurfaced remarks by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, regarding a visit he made with ex-Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to plead with Tinubu.

In a widely circulated old video, Amaechi is heard recounting how he and El-Rufai visited Tinubu to seek his support during a critical political moment.

The clip sparked reactions online, with many questioning the motivations behind the visit and the current relationship among top political figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Bayo Onanuga dismissed the significance of the clip and criticized those sharing it, suggesting that many have forgotten key political developments over the years.

“Some people clearly have short memories,” Onanuga wrote. “The same man they went to beg is today the president. That should say something.”

He emphasized that politics often involves strategic alliances and reconciliations, noting that past grievances or appeals should not be taken out of context.

“Tinubu is known for building bridges and uniting people. That Amaechi and El-Rufai once approached him is proof of his political relevance, not weakness,” Onanuga added.
