Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media and Public Communications to the former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken to X (formerly known as Twitter), to react to the appointment of Bashir Ojulari as the new Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.).

According to a post on the official X handle of Lere Olayinka, the Media Aide to the former Governor of Rivers State said that the new Group C.E.O. of NNPC Ltd. is a northerner. Lere Olayinka’s post suggested that he was making clarifications that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not sack Mele Kyari, a northerner, just to replace him with a southerner, as claimed in some quarters.
