Auwalu Umar, one of the residents of the Jimrawa community who stormed the Government House in Gusau to stage a protest, recounted his losses with tears in his eyes: that bandits killed his father, mother, brothers and sisters. He said that he now lives alone with nobody to support him or give him advice.

According to a report by the Daily Trust News on Friday, August 8, 2025, Auwalu Umar said, “They killed my father, mother, brothers, and sisters. I now live alone with no one to support or even advise me.”

Another protester who wants to be anonymous said during the protest that they won’t return to their various homes until they are assured of their safety.

According to reports, bandits abducted around 150 individuals in a string of attacks on multiple communities in Zamfara State over four days. The Zamfara State Government spokesperson, Mahmud Mohammed Dantawasa, confirmed the incidents to the BBC.
