Brett McGurk, the former Middle East advisor to President Joe Biden, highlighted the dangers of conflict with Israel at a conference in Abu Dhabi. When asked by The Times of Israel about the lessons learned from the past 18 months in Gaza, he warned that initiating a war with Israel would likely have negative outcomes.

He supported his argument by mentioning leaders like Yahya Sinwar of Hamas, Hassan Nasrallah of Hezbollah, and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, indicating that their situations have worsened since significant Israeli military actions on October 6.

McGurk pointed out that these leaders have endured major setbacks over the past year and a half, emphasizing the hazards of confronting Israel. As reported by THE TIMES OF ISRAEL, he advised, “Don’t start a war with Israel. It won’t work out well for you. That’s the lesson. Ask Sinwar, Nasrallah, or Khamenei how they’re doing today compared to October 6.”
