According to a report by Punch on Saturday, April 4, 2026, a survivor of the recent violent attack in Jos is currently receiving treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, where he continues to recover from severe injuries sustained during the incident.

Tayo Johnson, who was among those attacked in Angwan Rukuba, remains weak and largely immobile, as he battles the physical and emotional effects of the assault that occurred several days ago in Plateau State.

Johnson, who works as a printer in Gombe State, had been travelling back from a family visit in Kabba when the attack disrupted his journey.

According to his account, the vehicle he was travelling in was suddenly intercepted by armed men.

The situation quickly escalated, leaving passengers with little or no opportunity to escape.

What began as a routine journey turned into a life-threatening encounter within moments.

Now confined to a wheelchair, Johnson is being treated for deep machete wounds affecting his head, legs, and other parts of his body.

His condition reflects the intensity of the violence, as each movement appears difficult and painful.

Medical personnel at the hospital continue to monitor his progress while he gradually regains strength.

Despite his injuries, he remains conscious and able to speak, though the effort required to describe his experience is evident.

Johnson explained that after the first phase of the attack, he was left unconscious and presumed dead by the attackers.

He remained motionless for more than an hour before help eventually arrived.

The delay in receiving assistance contributed to the severity of his condition, as he lay exposed and unattended at the scene.

His survival has been described by those around him as remarkable, considering the extent of the injuries he sustained during the incident.

A community youth leader, Michael Gomwalk, also recounted the events of that day, describing how the attackers arrived without warning.

Residents in the area were going about their daily activities when gunmen suddenly invaded the community.

The sound of gunfire forced many people to seek shelter in their homes, while others attempted to flee in confusion.

The situation created widespread panic, as individuals struggled to understand what was happening.

He said, “People were going about their normal businesses when suddenly, gunmen invaded and started shooting sporadically. I was inside my house with my family. We all hid under the bed. Others ran into the kitchen. We didn’t understand what was happening. When we came out, we saw bodies everywhere. Some were burnt beyond recognition. Many people are still missing.” Read_More…
