Paul Ibe, the Media Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the outcome of an open plenary session at the 2025 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), held in Enugu State, using it as a reflection of widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration.

In a series of tweets posted on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Ibe claimed that the verdict from Nigerians is clear: the country is in a worse state now than it was two years ago.

Referencing the session anchored by Channels Television’s political journalist, Seun Okinbaloye, Ibe echoed the sentiments expressed by lawyers who participated in the conference, many of whom overwhelmingly disagreed that the country was on the right track under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

During the open plenary session moderated by Okinbaloye, attendees were asked a series of straightforward questions regarding the current state of the nation.

The questions included whether Nigeria is better off than it was two years ago, whether the country is on the right policy track under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and whether their hope has been renewed by the current leadership.

In response, participants answered “no” across the board, indicating deep concerns about governance, economic conditions, and the direction of national leadership.

He went on to criticize what he described as the “balablu policy prescriptions” of the Tinubu administration, a term that has become a satirical reference in political discourse.

According to Ibe, Nigerians believe the current government is disconnected from the realities faced by ordinary citizens, offering what he called “a renewed hopelessness.”

Quoting the feedback, Ibe wrote, “Nigerians say that they are far worse off today than they were two years ago. Nigerians say that the country is not on the right track with the balablu policy prescriptions of the @officialABAT administration. Nigerians say that the Tinubu administration is not in touch with the reality of the average citizen and that what they offer is a renewed hopelessness.”

In a bid to dismiss accusations of political bias or personal dislike for the president, Ibe pointed out that despite their criticism of the administration, Nigerians were able to commend individual performance within the government.

He specifically cited Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as one such official who has received praise from citizens for effective leadership.

“Just before you claim that the verdict is borne out of hatred for President Tinubu, take note that under the same situation, the same Nigerians are handing flowers to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for a job well done,” he added.

The tweets have since sparked conversations online, further intensifying public debate around the administration’s handling of the economy, governance, and citizen welfare.
