A top aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarewaju, has praised the recent Channels Television interview featuring Peter Obi, describing it as a “solid outing” that underscores the former Anambra State governor’s appeal as a political leader. The comments, posted on X today, July 7, 2025 is said to come amid growing anticipation surrounding the newly formed African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, which unites Atiku and Obi as key opposition figures against President Bola Tinubu’s ruling party.
In his post, Olarewaju highlighted Obi’s coherence during the interview with Seun Okinbaloye, aired late Sunday, attributing it to the qualities that have endeared him to millions of Nigerians. “The ADC opposition coalition is blessed to have him,” Olarewaju wrote, adding wishes for Obi to maintain “clarity of mind and strength of character” moving forward. The remarks is said to signal strong internal support within the coalition, formed after Atiku and Obi broke away from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party, respectively, as reported by BBC.
The interview, a focal point of political discourse today, saw Obi reiterate his advocacy for a single four-year presidential term, a proposal gaining traction as a potential 2027 election strategy, according to the Daily Post Nigeria.
