The former Vice President of Nigeria and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar has reacted after tanker explosion killed many people in Jigawa state.
According to PUNCH, a tanker explosion that happened in the Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa state has claimed the lives of no fewer than 105 people.
The Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Shiisu Adam was quoted as saying;
“As I am talking to you now, the casualty figure is about 105 and the number of injured is 55″.
However, Atiku Abubakar has now reacted to the report. In a post that he shared on his official X handle on Wednesday, he said he is saddened by the report.
The former Vice President said it is time to explore other means for transporting petroleum products around the country.
Atiku Abubakar stated that It is also important to train drivers who are involved in the transportation of flammable products.

“I am saddened by reports of the death of scores of people in a petrol tanker explosion in Majiya town in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The incident in Jigawa is one too many involving tragic petrol tanker explosions in the country. It is about time we explored other means, like rail, for transporting petroleum products around the country”.
