Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has accused Atedo Peterside, founder of ANAP Foundation, of bias towards former Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election campaign.

In a media parley with TVC from 1:23:19, Wike detailed a personal encounter with Peterside before the election. “During 2023 Presidential election, Atedo Peterside came to my house to see me, and I said, ‘What is the problem?'” Wike recounted.

According to Wike, Peterside revealed a prior conversation with Peter Obi. “Atedo Peterside said I told Obi that if Wike wins the primary, it will be hard to support you; we will support you. And that is what he said,” Wike stated.

The minister described Peterside’s subsequent request. “He said that we should support Peter Obi, and I said, ‘How will he win the election?'” Wike recalled. “They analysed it, and I have no problem about that.”

However, Wike accused Peterside of unethical conduct during the campaign. “The same man, without disclosing to the public that this is his preferred candidate, he used ANAP Foundation to start doing skewed opinion polls to be favourable to Obi,” Wike claimed. “Is that not corruption? You are for the man; you now became the head of opinion polls when you already have an interest. That is deceitful.”

Wike also criticized Peterside for his comments about local government administrators. “This is the same man calling people riff-raffs because I didn’t own a bank. That is how I become a riff-raff,” Wike said. “23 appointees of the administrator, he said they are riff-raffs. I take serious exception to that.”

The minister delivered a pointed message to Peterside. “Anywhere Atedo Peterside is, let him know that you don’t do that to people,” Wike declared. “If God has blessed you, all of us must not receive the same blessing from God.”
