The Edo PDP Governorship Candidate, Asue Ighodalo has refuted the claim by Senator Adams Oshiomhole that he cannot speak or understand the Esan language. He clarified that while he may not speak it fluently, he has a good understanding of it.

He dismissed the accusations made by Oshiomhole, who claim that he is a “city boy” and not a local boy. He pointed out the irony of Oshiomhole’s claims, noting that Oshiomhole himself grew up in Jos and was a tailor in Kaduna, yet claims to be a local boy. He questioned how Oshiomhole can be considered a local boy when he did not even grow up in Edo State.

He said in an interview with Channels TV from 2:01, ”It is not true that I don’t understand and cannot speak the Esan language. I don’t speak as fluently as I should and as I would love to but I understand it very well. Don’t mind all these funny people concocting all these lies that I’m a City boy.

Somebody (Oshiomhole) that grew up in Jos is saying that I’m not a local boy. Somebody (Oshiomhole) who was a Tailor in Kaduna is saying that I’m not a local boy. How is he a local boy when he didn’t even grow up in Edo State?”
