The 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), has questioned the political influence of PDP chieftain Chief Bode George, challenging him over his inability to secure victory in his polling unit despite being in the party for over two decades.

Jandor made the remarks on Monday during a press conference at his office in Ikeja, Lagos, where he officially announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He expressed disappointment in the PDP’s failure to tackle anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections, which he said contributed to the party’s poor performance in Lagos.

His comments come in response to Bode George’s earlier remarks, where he dismissed Jandor as “insolent and lacking party loyalty.”

Bode George, a long-time PDP stalwart, had criticized Jandor’s decision to contest the 2023 Lagos gubernatorial election under the party’s platform, arguing that he was unfamiliar with the PDP’s internal structure. He further lamented that Jandor’s candidacy forced Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), to step down and defect to the PDP, despite being a more credible option.

However, Jandor, in a video obtained by TVC News from 1:21, fired back directly at Bode George, questioning his electoral credibility.

“I appeal to you, gentlemen of the press, ask their supreme leader, Chief Bode George, whenever he appears on your platform: Why hasn’t he won his polling unit since he joined the party 20 years ago? Just ask him that question. Ask him, ‘Sir, why haven’t you won your polling unit since you joined the party 20 years ago?’ I’m sure he will say it’s because of Jandor,” he said.
