Elisha Abbo, a former Senator has stated that his financial situation worsened after he joined politics. He said his motivation for being in politics is his passion for serving the people, not for personal gain.

Speaking in an interactive video session with Arise TV from 10:56, Abbo said that despite his time in office as a senator, he doesn’t own any houses. He said in his village, he lives in a simple one-room and parlor arrangement. He also said that he has not built a house in his hometown or even in his local government headquarters and the house he lives in is owned by his friend

In Abbo’s words: “As a Senator I live in a room and parlour in my village, I never built a house in my home town. In my local government headquarters I don’t have a house, I live in my friend’s house. In my state capital in Yola I don’t have a house. I am saying this on national television”
