The Daily Post reports that Adolphus Wabara, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) board of trustees, has warned President Bola Tinubu about “greedy and power-drunk anti-democratic forces” that could invade Rivers State.

The party would not abide any effort to impose a state of emergency in Rivers State, according to Wabara, who is worried about the continuation of political tensions between Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor, Nyseom Wike.

Wabara stressed in a statement that the present situation in Rivers State does not necessitate declaring a state of emergency, as certain groups have proposed. Any attempt to meddle with Governor Fubara, he said, would have far-reaching effects on Nigeria.

After keeping a careful eye on the political happenings in Rivers State, Wabara made it clear that the PDP and law-abiding residents would not tolerate any attempt to undermine democracy in the state.

Attempts to destabilise the PDP-led administration in Rivers State, which was elected democratically, he said, would spark national-wide political turmoil.

Wabara begged President Tinubu not to give in to the influence of individuals who are power-hungry and motivated by self-interest; otherwise, they may make decisions that look autocratic and cause needless chaos in the country.

To conclude, Wabara’s words highlight the significance of avoiding any acts that could disrupt the nation’s political landscape by preserving democratic processes and the rule of law in relation to the political difficulties in Rivers State…..Sée Móre
