Lere Olayinka, a close aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has spoken out about recent claims spreading online about land ownership involving the Minister’s sons.

During an interview with News Central TV from 25:27, Olayinka dismissed the claims made by a lawyer who said that thousands of hectares of land were given by Wike to his sons through a company owned by one of his aides, Mr. Chinda.

Olayinka questioned the logic behind such an accusation. He explained that just because land is linked to Chinda’s name, it doesn’t automatically mean it belongs to Wike’s children. “How many aides does the Minister have?” he asked. “And because that land purportedly is in the name of that Chinda, and that land automatically belongs to the children of the minister. How does that make sense?”

He further criticized the lawyer for making such claims publicly, saying that the only place such an argument could work is on social media, not in a real courtroom. According to him, no serious lawyer would go to court with such weak evidence and expect to win.

On the issue of the civil servant who allegedly leaked the document, Olayinka clarified that he never said the man wasn’t arrested. Instead, he explained that he personally wasn’t aware of any arrest. What he knows is that the man was issued a query, which he described as a normal process in the civil service when something goes wrong.
