In a recent interview on Signature Morning on Signature TV from 19:20, Comrade Usman Anche, national chairman of Grassroots Advocacy for Peace and Good Governance, discussed the US designation of Nigeria as a country of particular concern. Anche argued that this move by the US is primarily driven by economic interests rather than religious or humanitarian concerns, noting Nigeria’s abundant natural and human resources as a key factor.

He made a striking statement regarding potential US military involvement in Nigeria, saying, “If the Americans come to Nigeria for any military intervention, that would be the end of America.” Anche emphasized that Nigeria does not depend on American aid, but rather that the US relies heavily on Nigerian resources for its economic stability.

Anche also addressed misconceptions about religion in Nigeria’s security challenges, explaining that terrorist attacks are indiscriminate and not motivated by faith. “These terrorist groups are not Muslims… They kill people in the mosque. They kill people in the church,” he said, stressing that religion is often used as a cover for hidden economic and political agendas.

The activist highlighted Nigeria’s growing strategic partnerships with countries like China and Russia, as well as domestic reforms such as local refining and curbing oil theft, which have strengthened the country’s self-reliance. He called for national unity across religious and ethnic lines to counter foreign interference. “We should be more united… Irrespective of region, tribe, or religion, we should come together as Nigerians,” he said.
