Kenneth Okonkwo, a lawyer and Nollywood actor, stated that he once traveled to Dubai and, during security checks at the airport, he was thoroughly searched because the officers had noticed some people pointing at him. He said the officers even removed his stockings to inspect him, but they found nothing suspicious.
In a video shared by Symfoni TV from 2:19, Okonkwo said the officer who searched him later approached the people to ask why they were pointing at him (Okonkwo), and they explained that it was because he was a famous Nigerian actor and they were excited to see him. He said the officer, upon realizing his mistake, felt embarrassed.
Okonkwo said the officer, being respectful, pulled him aside and apologized. He said the officer explained that from the moment he arrived, he had attracted attention because people were pointing at him, and they thought it was a cause for concern.
In Okonkwo’s words: “I had this experience in Dubai. When I came down and during the checking, they checked me thoroughly, removed my stockings, they did not see anything. Then the people that were pointing at me started getting closer. So the man now went and looked at them to give him sign and they said, ‘Don’t you know him? He is one of our African best actors’. The man felt ashamed. As a cultured country, he took me aside and apologized. He said, ‘From the time you came out of plane you have been an object of interest, people were pointing at you and we were thinking that they want to tell us that there is something terrible”
