Matías Almeyda, manager of Sevilla FC, has criticized the global priorities surrounding war and conflict, questioning why enormous sums are spent on weapons while many people around the world continue to face hunger.

According to a post by EuroFoot, Almeyda reflected on the contrast between ongoing wars and the continuation of football matches, saying the situation highlights how business often continues regardless of human suffering.

Almeyda said the situation made him reflect on how priorities have shifted.

According to him, “Today there are wars, and we are talking about playing a game. That means we don’t care about anything. That’s the sad part of this, that the business has to continue.”

He added that while football is supposed to be something beautiful, the current global situation sometimes makes it feel disconnected from humanitarian realities.

Almeyda also criticized the enormous cost of military weapons, contrasting it with widespread poverty and hunger in parts of the world.

According to him, “Yes, every rocket they shoot is worth 50 million, but in Africa there is hunger. Why instead of throwing those rockets, we don’t carry 50 million in rice or education.” Read_More…
