Abia State Governor and prominent Labour Party figure, Alex Otti, has reacted after the Supreme Court removed Julius Abure as Labour Party Chairman.

In a ruling delivered on Saturday, the Supreme Court overturned the Court of Appeal’s earlier decision that had recognized Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party. The apex court stated that the matter pertained to internal party affairs, and as such, it was outside the court’s jurisdiction.

Governor Otti welcomed the ruling, describing it as fair and appropriate. He emphasized that the tenure of Abure’s National Working Committee had already ended, which was the basis for establishing a new National Caretaker Committee headed by Esther Nenadi Usman.

According to Otti, the Supreme Court’s verdict is a step toward restoring peace and stability within the Labour Party.
